Our custom sweater fabric is composed of 55% Tencel Lyocell Fibers, 30% Organic Pima Cotton, and 15% Merino Wool. We cannot say enough good about this fabric; the mix of Tencel, Pima Cotton and Merino Wool creates an ultra light-weight and pillowy soft material. All of the fibers in our sweater fabric are biodegradable and will completely break down with environmental exposure into organic carbon. While the sweaters feel delicate, this mix of fibers is actually extremely durable and resilient. Here's how your new Recommence style was made, with you and the environment in mind.

Design and Fabrication

Every garment starts with the design process. Once we find our inspiration for a style, our designer draws the silhouette and sends it to one of our Fair Labor Certified factories. Each of our factories specializes in a type of fabric, so this design is headed to our specialists in Sustainable Sweater Yarns in China. We have all of our fabrics custom made for our collections, and our factory is one of the best in fabricating luxury knits. Having fabrics custom made adds time to the design process, but ensures that our garments are 100% Organic and the fabric has the perfect feel.

What We're Made Of

TENCEL® lyocell fiber comes from tree pulp that has been dissolved in a non-toxic organic solvent. The solution is strained to seperate the fibers and is then recycled in a closed-loop process. Through this process more than 99% of the solvent is recovered and reused. We ensure that the fabric processing of TENCEL® lyocell fiber does not utilize any harmful chemicals sometimes used to finish this type of fabric

Named after the indigenous Pima who first harvested it in North American plantations, this cotton has long been sought after for the extended fibers that give it its unique silky quality. Pima is so exclusive that less than three percent of all cottons are made using these unique fibers

Natural merino fleece is a highly renewable resource because the fleece quickly regrows after being harvested. Unlike conventional sheep wool, No harsh chemicals are used in the wool processing. The wool is kept pure by remaining free of toxic chemicals from the farm to the finished product

Now to You

Did you know that deadstock (leftover inventory from past seasons) is a huge problem afflicting much of the fashion industry right now due to the rise in fast fashion? We don't want any Recommence garments to go to waste so we produce very limited quantities of all of our styles. Once our finished garment leaves our factory, we carefully pack it to get it ready to head to you. This includes our hang tag, which is made from recycled cement leftovers, and our biodegradable bag. Each Recommence garment gets extra love and attention during our entire process, so make sure you cherish it always and keep up the care, because clothes are meant to last longer than one eason.
